Friday 17 September, 2.15pm – 4.15pm.
A Microsoft Teams event.
The UK rail industry and the rail investment pipeline are growing, with unprecedented levels of investment by government and the private sector in mass transit and rail projects.
HS2, Crossrail 2, New Tube for London (NTfL), and the Trans Pennine Upgrade are at the vanguard of this growth. These are among the largest projects of their kind in Europe over the coming decade. Local transport authorities are also prioritising investment in rail infrastructure projects including new stations and light rail networks.
These opportunities, alongside future phases of HS2 and the Re-opening Your Railway projects, mean there has never been a better time to collaborate for the future and support efforts to ‘level up’ the country. This event is an opportunity to take stock and understand how these projects will continue to ensure ambitions for growth are translated into jobs, innovation and opportunities for UK PLC to export around the globe.
Alongside this, the arrival of HS2 will mean hundreds more kilometres of track, leading to major investment in depots and the acceleration of plans for Enterprise Zones and other growth zones.
Ahead of the anticipated publication of the Integrated Rail Plan for the Midlands and the North, this event is a showcase of what different organisations and sectors are delivering to change and support the industry today. These include universities and colleges, leading firms and dynamic SMEs, combined authorities, city mayors, government departments, HS2 Limited and Network Rail.
Along with discussing successes and achievements so far, there will be the chance to share learning, reflect on new opportunities, and encourage more joined-up thinking and ideas for future working and projects. The event will also help develop greater understanding of that benefits of investing in major project will have for the British rail industry as a global force and the likely impact on the supply chain, particularly in the Midlands and the North.
Who should attend?
The event is aimed at company executives, transport policy officers, regional and national decision-makers, and anyone with a passion for the rail industry.
