The HS2 Growth Taskforce report ‘High Speed 2: get ready’ acknowledges that HS2 should be at the heart of an effective transport network which spreads the economic benefits of the project as widely as possible between our city regions. This is already central to our regional economic plans as we are confident HS2 will be a catalyst, not just for better connectivity between the UK’s major city regions, but also for investment in our local transport network, helping unleash our untapped growth and drive us towards creating a northern economic powerhouse.
